It is no surprise that a botanical illustrator must follow the same procedure. It is only through observation and study that the illustrator can capture every detail of a plant.

Therefore, in the courses to become a botanical illustrator, emphasis is placed on the observation of the plants that we are going to represent.

Likewise, it is important to know about watercolor techniques, how to draw with colored pencils, how to make digital drawings and which programs and brushes to work with.

What is the importance of botanical illustration and where can I work?

If you have no idea about botanical illustration and do not know why this art is so necessary, we tell you some of the reasons why you should put this specialty into practice.

Botanical illustration allows to illustrate encyclopedias and specialized books on unknown plants, medicinal plants, extinct plants and even to illustrate catalogs of the flora of a particular territory. It is a necessary work for those who study forestry, agronomy, pharmacy, naturopathy, horticulture and other sciences.

It may seem to you that there is no work in this field today, but the truth is that this is not the case. New encyclopedias and books on medicine, pharmacy and botany are coming out all the time and they all require an illustrator. That is where you can put your talent in this art into practice. There is also botanical art, which is not for scientific purposes but for decorative or conceptual purposes, which is very sought after nowadays for interior design, fashion and other types of products.
